A2 Jacket
- 548th NFS: This is a very collectable and very
rare item. This is a jacket from a pilot of the 548th Night
Fighter Squadron based in various pacific locations during
WW2. The 548th NFS flew against the Japanese from Hickam Field,
Hawaii, Kipapa Gulch, Hawaii, Det. Siapan, Siapan, Det.(Ground
Echelon) Iwo Jima, Iwo Jima and Le Shima, Ryukyus. They had
5 enemy kills and flew P-61 and P-70 aircraft.
The pilot is unknow but it believed he came
to settle in the UK and added the WW2 'Acme' british made
cork ball whistle. This has been in a private USA collection
for over 6 years and several offers have been turned down.
The Army Air Corp badge is just visible on the
left sleeve as is the AAC stamping on the inside of the jacket.
The front left of the jacket bears the squadron patch of a
smoking cat with torch made from leather and the dye is still
visible in places. There is a small tear under one of the
armpits and general genuine leather wear in various places.
This jacket is still in a wearable condition but of course
belongs in properly stored museum conditions.
I apologise for blanking out the squadron patch
but again this is extremely rare and is probably the only
genuine one in existence in the world. If you are a genuine
buyer then please
email me for pictures. I may ask for
references to ensure this item is not replicated! The price
is on application only (POA).
