M36 Model
German Paratrooper Helmet Belgium: Is based on a
very rare M36 model shell, but has been modified using M38
liner and of course early pattern spanner bolts. What makes
this helmet even more impressive is that it has the early
Luftwaffe Eagle and National Colour's decals. This helmet
has survived from the founding of the German Paratroopers.
The helmet is painted in two tone green and
tan which was used in Normandy and later in the Battle of
the Buge in winter 1944 & early 1945. Notice the crackling
to parts of the paint and the owners name inside the shell.
The inner lining is very well maintained yet aged, again
to reflect the period of use and 60+ years of ageing. The
lining rubber is black/grey to reflect a typical M38 lining.
There are two faded stamps in the liner leather. There is
also a helmet acceptance stamp inside the dome of the shell.
Notice the rusting to the whole helmet rim and strap buckles.
A Superb German Paratrooper helmet!
This helmet would make a superb item in your early Luftwaffe
Paratrooper collection - you are very unlikely to own a genuine
one unless you have £20,000 to spare and find one of
the very few in existence!
