M37 Model
with M38 liner Fallschirmjägerhelm (Paratroopers Helmet
Cassino): This is a first class reproduction
Fallschirmjager Helmet. It is based on a very rare
M37 model shell, with standard early pattern helmet bolts.
It has been modified using M38 liner which was common practice
in mid-late war when earlier produced models were pressed
into service. Notice the slots at the side of the helmet and
the extra holes for retaining the original liner at the sides
and rear.
This helmet is based on one used at Monte Cassino.
It was originally Luftwaffe field grey but has been re-sprayed
in sand (Mediterranean), colour. The decal is a second pattern
eagle and is 99.9% intact and the national colour's decal
is 100% intact. Both are over-painted to a degree but field
wear has revealed them again!
The inner lining is worn and aged, again to
reflect the period of use and 60+ years of ageing. Notice
the rusting to the helmet rim!
The owner has added his name 'W. Zhan FJR I'
to the helmet lining. Both manufacturer and size markings
are present in the lining.
This helmet would make a superb item in you
fallschirmjäger collection. It would make a great filler
till you get a genuine M37 Cassino helmet which is highly
unlikely as it is thought that very little M37's survived
the war.
