M37 Model
with M38 liner German Paratrooper Helmet Medical Orderly Ardennes:
This is a first class reproduction of
a Luftwaffe (Air Force), Medical Orderly German Paratrooper
Helmet. It is based on a very rare M37 model shell, with early
pattern helmet bolts. It has been modified using M38 liner
which was common practice in mid-late war when earlier produced
models were pressed into service. Notice the slots at the
side of the helmet and the extra holes for retaining the original
liner at the sides and rear.
This helmet is based on one used intially in
Europe (Luftwaffe Field Grey), then overpainted in white,
during the 'Battle of the Bulge' in the Ardennes region of
Begium - winter 1944.
The decals are 95% intact and both decals have
been painted over by the owner and are 75% visible. The owner
has has name & Field Post number painted inside the helmet
rim - 'Muller. B.J. FP27110' .
Check out the ageing to this helmet, it is
superb, the liner has the look and feel of a 60+ year old
field used helmet as has the shell and chinstraps. The straps
even show cracking and ageing in places! There is even a partial
shell acceptance stamp inside the dome, which can be viewed
by pulling back the lower liner (too difficult to photograph
I'm afraid!).
This German paratrooper helmet would make a
superb item in your paratrooper collection. It would also
make a great filler till you get a genuine M37 'Battle of
the Bulge' Medic helmet which is highly unlikely as very few
M37's survived the war and those that did are very expensive!
This item comes in a suitable aged box and a
'send home' label! A great present for the military collector!
