M36 Model
German Paratrooper Helmet : Is based on a very rare
M36 model shell, but has been modified using M38 liner and
of course early pattern spanner bolts. What makes this helmet
even more impressive is that it has the Heer and National
Colours decals and not the Luftwaffe one. This helmet has
survived from the founding of the German Paratroopers.
.Notice that the helmet was first painted apple
green, then finally painted in greens and brown spray patterns,
very common for Normandy and European campaigns. The helmet
has well rusted camoflauge wire added and the faint 'zig zag'
shape can still be seen in the wire.
The inner lining is very well maintained yet aged, again
to reflect the period of use and 60+ years of ageing. The
lining rubber is black/grey to reflect a typical M38 lining.
There are two faded stamps in the liner leather. The helmet
shell is marked with the owners rank and name (Major Stein).
There is also a helmet acceptance stamp inside the dome of
the shell. Notice the rusting to the helmet rim and strap
buckles. A Superb German Paratrooper helmet!
This helmet would make a superb item in your Heer Paratrooper
collection.
This item also comes with an address label stamped '21 DEC
1944' and addressed from an 82'd US Airborne Sergeant to a
lady in Washington DC and a suitable aged box! A great item
for the German Paratrooper collector.
