M38 Model
Reproduction German Helmet Normandy: This reproduction
German helmet is a middle to late war model M38 paratrooper
helmet. It has late pattern aluminium helmet bolts and standard
pattern chinstrap's. It can be summarised as the typical Normandy
campaign helmet.
This helmet is based on one used at Normandy
in June 1944. It has its original luftwaffe field grey colour
and then has been over painted in dark green and light tan
colours. The single decal is the second model luftwaffe eagle
and has also been over painted but field wear has revealed
95% of it. The owner has has name painted inside the helmet
rim - 'J. Sonne I/II' . Notice the chicken wire basket, a
very common addition during the Normandy campaign.
The helmet has a Luftwaffe acceptance stamp
in the dome, the shell size stamped in the inner rim and the
batch number (5997), at the rear rim (over painted with the
owners name). The acceptance stamp can bee see by lifting
the middle liner.
This is your typical M38 Normandy German Paratrooper
Helmet in colour, ageing, camouflage and wire basket. It has
been aged to look as if it has just come off the battlefield,
with light rust in places, heavy wear and well used!
This item comes in a suitable aged box and a
'send home' label! A great present for the military collector!
