M37 Model with M38 liner Fallschirmjägerhelm (Paratroopers Helmet Normandy): This is a first class reproduction of an Army (Heer), Fallschirmjager Helmet. It is based on a very rare M37 model shell, with standard early pattern helmet bolts. It has been modified using M38 liner which was common practice in mid-late war when earlier produced models were pressed into service. Notice the slots at the side of the helmet and the extra holes for retaining the original liner at the sides and rear. The Army paratroops was disbanded by this time in the war and were all amalgamated into the Luftwaffe, so this helmet marking is very rare! This helmet is based on one used at Normandy in June 1944. It was originally army apple green but has been hand painted in green and deep brown/red colours. There has been sand applied to the paint to remove any shine. The eagle decal is the standard army decal and is 100% intact and the national colours decal is 90% intact. Both have been painted 'round' by the helmets owner Gefreiter Muller. The inner lining is worn and aged, again to reflect the period of use and 60+ years of ageing. Very little helmets are aged to this standard - look at the leather 'wrinkles'! The owner has added his name 'Muller' to the helmet lining and to the shell. Both manufacturer and size markings are present in the lining and the shell is marked ET71 and with a batch number. The manufacturer number is a 'RB' number which denotes that it is a late war liner. This helmet would make a superb item in you fallschirmjäger collection. It would make a great filler till you get a genuine M37 Normandy helmet which is highly unlikely as it is thought that no M37's survived the war! This item comes in a suitable aged box and a 'send home' label! A great present for the military collector!
