M37 Model with M38 liner Fallschirmjägerhelm (Paratroopers Helmet Cassino): This is a first class reproduction Fallschirmjager Helmet. It is based on a very rare M37 model shell, with standard early pattern helmet bolts. It has been modified using M38 liner which was common practice in mid-late war when earlier produced models were pressed into service. Notice the slots at the side of the helmet and the extra holes for retaining the original liner at the sides and rear. This helmet is based on one used at Monte Cassino. It was originally luftwaffe grey/blue but has been resprayed in sand (Mediterranean), colour. The decal is a second pattern eagle and is 99.9% intact and the national colours decal is 100% intact. Both are overpainted to a degree but field wear has revealed them again! The inner lining is worn and aged, again to reflect the period of use and 60+ years of ageing. The owner has added a camo net held in place with metal wire, which is considerably rusted and worn, this helps to add to the authenticity and the 'personalised look. The camo net has been repaired using european chicken wire. The net has worn the paintwork slightly and left a nice 'outline' in places. The owner has added his name 'Muller' to the helmet lining. Both manufacturer and size markings are present in the lining and the shell is marked ET71 and with a batch number. This helmet would make a superb item in you fallschirmjäger collection. It would make a great filler till you get a genuine M37 Cassino helmet which is highly unlikely as it is thought that no M37's survived the war! This item comes in a suitable aged box and a 'send home' label! A great present for the military collector!
