German M40 Waffen SS Italian Campaign Helmet : This is a genuine German WW2 helmet painted originally in apple green and repainted post WW2 in Italian campaign yellow camouflage colour's. It is a single decal 62 sized helmet with post war liner and chinstrap. This is a very nice Italian campaign camouflaged helmet with lots of rusting throughout and post war liner and chinstrap marked LBA which is a Luftwaffe makers mark! The decals are the early war SS runes and most unusually they have a large protective lacquer round the decal. The helmet shell has a batch marking of XX161 where XX means unknown character. It is very faintly marked XX62 to the left hand side where again XX means unreadable. It has an acceptance stamp to the inside of the shell marked 'Thale/Hartz'. Notice how the SS Runic shield shines brightly as do many of the originals! the leather on the chinstrap is nice and dry and cracking in places and the liner has been worn suitably! A very sought after helmet and very desirable in this size (62)! As you will know 100% genuine examples of these helmets sell for thousands of pounds, this one is a bargain!
