German M42 Waffen SS Normandy Helmet : This is a genuine German WW2 helmet painted in field grey and aged appropriately. It has the early pattern Waffen SS runes decal and has several markings in various places. The helmet has one stamped marking: '1477' at the rear edge, witch is the batch/production number. Unusually there is no makers stamp, making this helmet quite rare! It is a size 64. There is an army acceptance stamp dated 1942 inside the helmet shell and the name 'R. Boag SS' hand painted inside the rear rim. The liner and chinstrap are reproduction but they have been aged in keeping with the helmet condition and compliments the helmet fully. Notice the very well rusted wire for camouflage and notice how you can still see the 'S' bends in the wire. The rust from the wire has marked the helmet in several places and there is a nice thick layer of dust and rust round the rim. The chinstrap is marked 'LARSEN BERLIN 1939'. The SS decal has been heavily aged and pitted yet still has a nice silver shine when caught in the light! The helmet is 100% genuine German and the decal, liner, rivets and paint work are post war! A great item for the Waffen SS, or German military helmet collector.
